Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer

Dave and Tracy chose two different models -- a dreadnought for him, the smaller C model for her -- which they felt complemented each other perfectly in look and sound. "In our duo, the individual voice of one instrument is extremely important," explains Carter, "but so is the blending of that instrument with the others we use. [or] Each of our instruments is specially chosen for it's ability to stand alone as a solo instrument, and for it's blend with the other 'voices'. Finding two beautifully-made guitars that resonate like our Napas do is a stroke of luck."

Carter's drednought has a spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Grammer's C is a concert-sized guitar with a spruce top and rosewood back and sides. Both guitars feature a red to black sunburst that makes them unique among CFox Guitars.

"Dave is a fingerstyle guitarist. His guitar needs to have a fast neck, clarity and expressiveness, " explains Grammer. "I play rhythm and need a solid guitar with well-balanced tones. The great thing is, these guitars are interchangeable. The dreadnought is smart and clear on the leads. And the C has a much richer sound than you'd expect. We couldn't be happier."

The duo, whose careers were launched when they took top honors at the Kerrville New Folk, Wildflower, and Napa Valley songwriting contests in 1998, has been touring aggressively in support of it's debut cd, WHEN I GO, dubbed "one of the best albums of the year" by the Los Angeles Times (5/99). They will celebrate the March 2000 release of their first Signature Sounds recording, TANGLEWOOD TREE, with several national tours. Visit the duo online at http://www.daveandtracy.com
