Charles Fox Guitars & its history

Charles Fox began his lifelong dedication to guitar building at the age of 25 and since then has built every type of guitar, working both as a custom guitar maker and as head of his own guitar production shop. In the late '70s and early '80s, Charles' GRD GUITARS were among the first instruments to define the market for high end electric guitars. In 1973 he founded the first school for guitar builders in North America, the Guitar Research and Design Center, where many of today's established luthiers were introduced to their craft. In recent years Charles has founded and directed the American School of Lutherie in Healdsburg, and has been a founder and educational coordinator of the Healdsburg Guitar Festival. With an international reputation as a luthier, educator and consultant in the field of guitar building, Charles Fox's original design concepts and construction techniques are widely used by leading guitar makers and factories around the world.
