Introduction

Materials

The enhanced musicality of a handmade guitar begins with the selection of its materials. The acoustic guitars described here are built from the world's finest quality master-grade instrument woods. Select Alpine spruce and East Indian rosewood are standard materials for most models. Brazilian rosewood, African blackwood, figured maple, koa and other stunning woods are optionally available for back and sides, as are Adirondack, Engelmann and Sitka spruce, and Western Red cedar, for soundboards.

Each wood's unique tone character recommends its use for a particular instrument. Necks are crafted from pattern grade Honduran mahogany, and jet black Gaboon ebony is standard for finger boards.  Electric guitar necks are figured hard maple, their bodies alder and ash.
